Sandbridge Beach Family Portraits During Thunderstorm!

As photographers, Crystal and I are very grateful that most of our portrait sessions are fun and at times down-right adventurous. This particular Sandbrige beach family portrait session was definitely not an exception!

The day of the session there was a 10 percent chance of rain in the forecast with overcast skies, so we figured that 10 percent was a pretty acceptable to go ahead with the session.
On the drive to Sandbridge beach while looking at the rear view mirror, I noticed that the blue skies had disappeared only to be replaced with dark storm clouds.

And there it was… a huge thunderstorm was right behind our car  following us towards the beach.  A couple of rain drops falling soon turned into an early evening monsoon blanketing the entire road towards Sandbridge! Finally escaping the thunder storm with another 15 minutes of driving, Crystal and I figured it would just blow over inland… we were wrong!

After arriving at the family’s beach house at Sandbridge beach, we setup our camera equipment as fast as we could, and with the family’s insistence we ahead and rushed to the beach to get their family beach portraits taken! Minutes later, the wind began to pick up, waves started to get bigger, and suddenly the roar of thunder and lightning engulfed the entire beach!  Then, it started to suddenly rain…  After getting a few more family shots were taken, we all agreed that it’s time to head for the hills and return to the beach house (which was a pretty good distance away)!

Although this was one of the shortest portraits session at the beach, we were able to get shots our client had requested! Contact us today if you would like to schedule your family beach portraits.
