Home Studio Dance Portraits with Allison

Just about a month ago, we photographed Allison to update her dance portfolio at her home in Virginia Beach.

Allison needed to update her dance portfolio for her media package and had contacted us to do some studio style shots of her dance poses, head shots, and some full length shots.

We cleared out her living room to setup our equipment, including our portable 10′ backdrop stand, our black, white, and studio gray backdrops, lighting equipment, cameras, and our laptop to setup an a make-shift studio at her home.

We started off with some simple head shots with a few outfits she had lined up, and then progressed on moving onto some 3/4 shots and then some full-length shots.

Afterward, we began photographing some of her dance moves/poses for her portfolio and then went from there.

One thing Crystal and I learned is that when it comes to posing actual dance moves/styles, it takes a lot of patience (which we had lots of) and time to get the right shots we needed.

Some poses took a while to capture because of the movements as well as getting the right posture right, or some had to be retaken so we can get the right angles and shots needed.

We also had to focus on getting shots with the right look on her face and re-took some of the ones that had a bit of awkward expressions on them.

We had lots of fun and captured the shots Allison needed to update her portfolio, so we are very pleased with her home “studio” session.
