While I photographed the band in and around the Ghent area of Norfolk, Crystal shot their video using our Canon 7D with the 24-70mm f2.8 USM lens mounted on it.

We started the live photo booth service as soon as guests began to arrive during cocktail hour and lasted until after the reception has ended! We also were printing photo strips to give away as party favors as well as putting copies of the prints in a memory book where guests can sign next to their photos! Once again another fantastic photo booth service done by the Gamboa Photos team!

All through out the evening Crystal and I aimed for perfection with every shot, while presented with all the ‘newbie’ wedding photography challenges such as little space to move, lack of lighting, and just the fact that it was our very first wedding we covered.

Overall the wedding day went by so fast and we definitely worked ourselves off resulting in a complete, creative, wedding coverage  shown in the slideshow above.  We can’t thank Dominique and Kilan enough for having faith in us and trusting us to do them justice with every single photo they received.

Byrd Park was full of photo opportunities for the couple. Since neither Janel & Mike had visited Byrd Park before we let them both explore the park together while we took a few candid photos of them.

After walking around the park Janel and Mike suggested that we head towards a big tower that they passed by on the way to the park.

On the way to the tower, we noticed that there was a small, grassy, amphitheater area nearby.

Of course, we could not pass on the opportunity to take some amazing photos of them kissing in the middle of the amphitheater with the stadium seating repeating in the background (pictured top of post).

The tower was everything we were expecting and much more! The building was actually the Virginia War Memorial.

There was a winding staircase at both ends of the building which led to another floor with balconies and big windows.

We did a few goofy poses of Janel and Mike here before heading towards a big tree in the park area where we took the final photos of the session.

The story is about two secret lovers, portrayed by models Yes and Jeremy, meeting at a secluded beach away from peering eyes. We wanted the models to show a strong connection and intimacy in each shot – we believe they nailed it.

This series was shot on-location right before sunset somewhere on a secluded piece of beach along the water. The sun gave us lots to work with as it began setting just right above the water, it was a beautiful site to see as we worked towards the end of the photo shoot.

Shon D. was also on the set as the creative director for the shoot and Allison Stout worked on Yes’ hair and makeup.

The entire team performed another great shoot and more photos from this series  and we’re really happy with the outcome of the shots.

We focused on numerous poses and portraits, starting off with the large group including all 37 family members which included the children, parents, and of course – the celebrant of the day, their parent and grandmother.

Everyone wore their  “I Love Gram”, “I love GG”, and “I Love Mom” custom-made white t-shirts with jeans which looked great on the shots!

We then photographed just their grandmother with her children, then we photographed her with just the grand kids.

Afterward, we photographed everyone of the family members  on the boat dock at their backyard and got a pretty good group shot there (pictured top of post), then photographed the kids making a pyramid pictured below

We shot at various locations in the Ghent area in Norfolk and finished it off at the carnival currently located at Mt. Trashmore in Virginia Beach.

Instead of just taking photos, we took our new camera body that records in full HD and started to record video during the shoot to capture behind the scenes clips that we’ll compile later to become a new video to be posted here later on.

We focused on a lot of new group shots, solo shots, some that were posed, some that just with the group interacting, and the rest just captured as we went along.

We had such a great time (as always) working with City Voices and their personalities just bring about the true essence of the band – fun, new, original, and always never dull.

So I’m debuting this particular series with a good friend – actor Justin Tully. I first thought of doing this particular series about a year ago and it was actually right after we first shot with Justin that I thought he’d be the right person to start it off with.

I’m doing this because I just think that peoples faces are interesting, they show personality, character, and many other things. We communicate with our faces using various expressions and emotions unique to the individual. So this is the first set of photos going through a test run, hope you all enjoy!

We started our portrait session at the Pagoda Japanese Garden by Nauticus, and then walked around the surrounding neighborhood.
We also recorded video to highlight their moments and also to “fuse” it with some of the photos we took of them – make sure to click on the HD button to watch it in HD.

Alexis and Joe’s wedding ceremony was held at the South Courtyard of the Mariners Museum just right before sunset, following the reception in the Huntington Room.
