Engagement Photography at Byrd Park with Janel & Mike

Just a  month before their wedding last year, we photographed Janel & Mike for their engagement session and traveled to Byrd Park in Richmond, Virginia nearby Maymont Park.

Byrd Park was full of photo opportunities for the couple. Since neither Janel & Mike had visited Byrd Park before we let them both explore the park together while we took a few candid photos of them.

After walking around the park Janel and Mike suggested that we head towards a big tower that they passed by on the way to the park.

On the way to the tower, we noticed that there was a small, grassy, amphitheater area nearby.

Of course, we could not pass on the opportunity to take some amazing photos of them kissing in the middle of the amphitheater with the stadium seating repeating in the background (pictured top of post).

The tower was everything we were expecting and much more! The building was actually the Virginia War Memorial.

There was a winding staircase at both ends of the building which led to another floor with balconies and big windows.

We did a few goofy poses of Janel and Mike here before heading towards a big tree in the park area where we took the final photos of the session.
